After his ski career during the 70ies Poldl Gruber started his gastronomy career. Together with Uschi he built up the "Sportalm". At the beginning the "Sportalm" was a restaurant, later it became a pension and apartment house too. Continuous improvement brought more and more guests.
Family business
Uschi's and Poldl's son Johannes will step into his parent's shoes. Johannes attended the tourism college in Villach and got a lot of practical training at hotels in Bad Kleinkirchheim, Velden, Leogang and South Africa. At the "Sportalm" Johannes is responsible for the service team. In winter, Johannes is always on the Poldlhütte meet an cares for the well-being of its guests.
In both factories you will also meet his wife, Ramona (or "Moni") and the little Paul, the youngest Gruber.
The golf course as compensation
Poldl Gruber is not only a passionate host but a golfer too.
Some of his closest friends are his previous ski colleagues, Franz Klammer, Werner Grissmann und Bojan Krizaj.

The "Sportalm" is situated in the centre of St. Oswald - next to the cable car Brunnach, several ski slopes and the ski school. Our summer guests can make use of our
idyllic lawn for sunbathing.
"Sportalm" winter guests take advantage of the convenient location of the house. The ski school, ski kindergarten and several ski lifts and slopes are right next to the house.
We also have a herb garden, a sun terrace and a children's playground.
